World Mental Health Day 2018
World Mental Health Day is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It is celebrated on October 10, as the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.
On October 10, we celebrated "World Mental Health Day" to spread awareness about mental illness. According to an estimate, one out of four persons is suffering from mental illness in today's stressed environment. In addition, it is also estimate and surprise that 80% to 90% of objectionable incidents are carried out due to mental stress, which can be found in most youngsters.
As a part to celebrate this day and mental health program, public awareness programs like street play, rallies, etc. for stress relief, mental illness & stress management were organized by District NCD Cell, Gir Somnath at Government Hospital, Veraval.
Staff members of the district NCD Cell and students of Choksi Arts and Commerce College together presented a beautiful 'drama' highlighting mental health and conveying message in the presence of Dr. J.M. Paramar (renowned psychiatrist & Superintendent of the Government Hospital Veraval), Ms. Namrataben Mehta (psychologist), and Dr. A.M. Chocha (Prof. of Psychology Dept). Light snacks and tea for all mental patients, students and staff members were organised by District NCD Cell, Gir Somnath on this occassion of celebration.
Dr. J.M. Parmar (Psychiatrist & Superintendent) presented a session for awakening people for "How should we care for mental health today?". He also encouraged students by distributing participation certificates and prizes for their play. Thus, this day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
